Fall 2026 & Winter 2027 Scrimmages
This off-season, Scorch is running competitive scrimmages every Saturday evening in Penticton’s Sportsplex, an indoor multi-sport artificial turf facility. Each season (Fall & Winter) is 8-weeks in duration.
Location – Kings Park Sportsplex (550 Eckhardt Ave W, Penticton, BC, V2A 1V4)
Fall 2026 Dates & Times – Saturdays from October 24th to December 19th, 8:00pm – 9:30pm.
Winter 2027 Dates & Times – Saturdays from January 9th to February 27th, 8:00pm – 9:30pm.
Program Description
The sessions are scrimmage-based so players can continue to get game-reps in the off-season while players likely focus on other seasonal sports.
Each session will include a dynamic warm-up, quick throwing or movement drill, and then approximately an hour of scrimmage-time.
By playing in the off-season, players will be building towards future success at the BC High School Ultimate Championships (Provincials) or future Summer-club seasons. Everyone is welcome!
Fall 2026 & Winter 2027 Registration Details
Registration costs $125 + GST per 8-week season. This cost includes:
- 8-weeks of in-person scrimmages (1.5 hours per session on Saturdays, 8:00 – 9:30pm)
- Indoor turf (Penticton’s Sportsplex) facility rental fees
- All other equipment, insurance, and administrative fees to run the program

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any tournaments or competitions to play in during the Fall or Winter?
Yes! In the past, we have sent teams to the Emerald City Challenge tournament in Seattle, WA in late-February. If there is enough interest, Scorch would send two teams (1x Open; 1x Women’s) to the tournament.
This tournament would likely be hosted by DiscNW at Valley Ridge Park in SeaTac, WA. Upon registering for our program, you will be sent a Google Form to indicate your interest and prospective availability for this tournament. Players are not required to play in this tournament – this is just an extra opportunity to get games in, during the off-season!
What if I can't attend all of the sessions?
Players that have partial availability are welcome to play with us on a part-time basis.
Our program aims to provide equitable playing opportunities for everyone, and it is perfectly fine not being able to fully commit to every week due to other commitments during the season.

Our Fall and Winter programs is for anyone who wants to continue to play Ultimate Frisbee in the off-season. Fortunately, there are opportunities to play in tournaments down in Seattle, WA during the Winter season, giving players an option to play more competitively, too.

Coaches & Volunteers
Richard Hall
Richard Hall is a teacher at Southern Okanagan Secondary School (SOSS) in Oliver, BC, and a leader in the development of youth Ultimate Frisbee in the South Okanagan. Since launching the SOSS Hornets Ultimate Program in 2018, he has built it into a full Grade 8, Junior, and Senior program, with teams regularly competing at the BCSS Provincial Championships and the Ultimate BC Invitational.
Richard is also the Founder and Tournament Director of Southern Flights, an annual high-school Ultimate tournament held each April in Oliver, BC. What began as an 8-team event in 2023 has grown into one of the largest youth high-school tournaments in British Columbia, now featuring a full 16-team Senior and Junior division, hosting many of the province’s top high-school programs.
In 2025, Richard founded Scorch Ultimate Club to provide year-round training and competitive opportunities for local athletes, with the first teams set to compete in Summer 2026 (June – August). His focus is on long-term athlete development, inclusion, and creating strong pathways for players from elementary through high-school.
Originally from North Bay, Ontario, Richard has played Ultimate since age 14. He holds NCCP coaching certification and also coaches cross-country running and girls volleyball at SOSS.
