FUSE (Touring) & Scorch (Regional) Team Descriptions

FUSE is a competitive Junior team that will aim to compete at the Canadian Ultimate Championships (Canadian Nationals) in Surrey, BC from August 9th – 12th. Qualification for CUC is dependent on results at the Regional qualifier (BC Ultimate Championships) in Kelowna, BC that runs on July 11th & 12th.

The team will be a fusion of players from both the PULSE (North Shore) and Scorch (South Okanagan) Ultimate Clubs. Each club will select approximately 10-16 players (based on consultation amongst coaches of both programs) to field the most competitive team possible for the Summer.

Players do not need to be available for the regional qualifier or nationals to play FUSE, but it is highly preferred. There will be a preference to take individuals who can attend the touring-specific event(s) where possible. Athletes who play for FUSE will typically be in Grades 10-12, or individuals who have considerable club experience if younger.

Tournament dates:

  • June 20/21 – Kelowna Invitational – Kelowna, BC
  • June 27/28 – Misfit Cup – Burnaby, BC
  • July 11/12 – BC Ultimate Championships (Touring) – Kelowna, BC
  • August 9-12 – Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC) – Surrey, BC
  • *If the team does not qualify for CUC, the team will attend Vortex Cup (August 8/9) to close the season.

Training camp dates:

  • June 12-14 – Penticton, BC
  • June 25/26 – North Vancouver, BC
  • July 9/10 – Oliver, BC

Scorch is a competitive Junior team that competes against other regional teams in British Columbia every Summer, with a focus on preparing players to play in our touring stream in subsequent Summer seasons.

Athletes who play for Scorch will typically be in Grades 8-10. Players do not need to be available for the entire Summer to play for the team – everyone is welcome, including part-time players or those that can’t commit to travel.

Tournament dates:

  • August 8/9 – Vortex Cup – Surrey, BC
*The team may look to attend other tournaments, such as the June 20/21 Kelowna Invitational, and the July 11/12 BC Ultimate Championships. This depends on general player availability and numbers for the Summer.

Training camp dates:

  • June 12-14 – Penticton, BC

Players that have partial availability are welcome to play with us on a part-time basis.

Our program aims to provide equitable playing opportunities for everyone, and it is perfectly fine not being able to fully commit to every week due to other commitments during the season.
